I had the absolute privilege of meeting trail running legend Joe Benbow in March of 2023. He came to Fiordland on a mission to organise a Milford Track Group run and did an absolute stellar job of managing the logistics of a 24 strong crew. Sadly Joe lost his battle with depression a few months after, so together with another 24 runners, we organised a replica ‘event’ and returned to the Milford Track a year later (almost to the day) in memory of Joe.
